Quilt with us your way - choose our cost-effective stitching service, or quilt in-studio with one-to-one support

Stitch Your Quilt

To book, email deborah@dastardlyline.com with a brief description of your project and your availability.

The most common type of quilting we offer is edge-to-edge quilting - an all over design that creates a neat, professional finish.

Our usual turnaround is 4–6 weeks, but if you have a tighter deadline, let us know and we’ll do our best to accommodate.

Payment is taken at the end of your session or on collection. We accept card payments or bank transfer.

Prices

Edge-to-edge prices are based on the average of the quilt’s width and length. For projects that require more than a standard digital edge-to-edge, pricing is charged by the hour to allow for greater flexibility and customisation.

For example, a 91" × 73" quilt has an average size of 82", and would cost £170 as a drop-off quilt or £200 for in-studio quilting.

We offer a £20 discount for each smaller quilt brought in at the same time

This is our most cost effective method of quilting as it enables us to stitch with the greatest level of efficiency.

You drop the quilt off or post it to us, we discuss a pattern and thread colour with you, then when it's stitched you come collect or we'll post back.

Learn how to use a longarm quilting machine yourself (don't worry, we'll be with you the entire time)

We expect a quilt to take on average of 4 hours but digital quilting can take anywhere between 2 and 11 hours depending on quilt size, stitch density and digital pattern (and machine compliance).

We regularly stitch two in a day. We give each additional quilt brought in at the same time a discount. You are welcome to bring in as many as you have and leave the extra with us to stitch at a later point

Manual quilting is the most traditional way of using a longarm machine. You guide the machine by hand, stitching freely across the quilt surface to create an all-over design.

This is the most hands on, fun way of using the longarm quilting machine. The process is meditative and manually stitched quilts keep the visible hand of the maker, so we really recommend it on extra-personal quilts for example any made from baby clothes

When you arrive we’ll give you some fabric to practice stitching on. Once you have a design in mind and have practised it a few times we’ll load your quilt onto the machine together and off you go!

Manual quilting can vary from 2 hours to 1000 hour custom show quilts. It always takes approximately 1 hour to load the quilt.

We'll be by your side the entire time but will leave you alone to work as much as you're comfortable with.

Custom digital rental is a new service introduced in response to frequent requests for quilting that goes beyond a standard repeating edge-to-edge pattern.

This option is not to work with you to create an edge-to-edge (which is listed separately as an add-on below). Instead, it’s for quilts that need something more considered or individual.

Custom digital quilting is extremely flexible and can include:

  • adapting or aligning purchased digital designs to suit a specific quilt layout, for example Tula's Queen of Diamond quilt
  • creating non-repeating, all-over digital designs
  • layout-specific quilting that responds to piecing or appliqué
  • specialist projects such as quilted garments or highly personal quilts

We’ve worked on everything from carefully aligned commercial designs to completely bespoke projects including custom jackets and one very special lighthouse quilt.

This option is best suited to show quilts, exhibition pieces, or projects where edge-to-edge quilting isn’t quite enough. We expect there will be quite a bit of prep work which included in the price. If you have an idea and aren't sure how to execute it, send us an email and we'll arrange for you to come into the studio to discuss whether it's feasible.

How about adding something extra special?

Something small

Add a name?

Make a quilt extra special by adding a name and/or date. Perfect for special quilts such as wedding or baby quilts. We’ll subtly incorporate the text into the edge-to-edge design, usually in the bottom left corner, so it sits quietly within the pattern. Adding a name creates a soft, understated detail that doesn’t overpower the quilt.

£40 - just send us your exact text ahead of time. We expect the length to be name/ name, date, and in a similar font as in the image

Something more

Can we make you a custom E2E?

Our regulars know we can’t resist a good brief, and that’s led to us adapting and customising our designs for individual quilts. Add a Yorkie and a campervan to our Garden v2 pattern? No problem! Or perhaps swap a daisy for a rose?

We design the majority of our patterns in-house, and we’re happy to make thoughtful, considered changes to suit your quilt, and/ or work with you to create something totally new.

£60 - £200, depending on complexity. Simply send us your brief and allow a few weeks for design time.

New to 2026: Do it yourself

Draw Your Own?

Design your own digital edge-to-edge quilting pattern to stitch on your quilt.

In this one-to-one session, you’ll come into the studio ahead of your quilting date and work with Deborah to design a repeat pattern using professional digital tools. We’ll guide you through the fundamentals of pattern design and prepare your finished design so it’s ready to stitch on your quilt.

The session is booked in the days or weeks prior to quilting (we’ve learned this works far better than trying to do everything on the same day). If you’d like an idea of what’s involved, our Panto Design School gives a good sense of what to expect.

£110 for a 2-3 hour design session, including pattern tidying afterwards.
