A cute quilt designed using our Thread Layering technique, made for using three different thread colours. The pattern includes PDF instructions, and a full YouTube walkthrough as part of our Panto Design School.
The full quilt features illustrated woodland animals arranged in a gentle, layered style inspired by leaves and ferns. The design is intentionally forgiving, with enough flexibility to accommodate small amounts of movement or shrinkage during stitching, so placement isn’t overly fussy.
Stitching approach (important)
We strongly recommend stitching this pattern panel by panel, not colour by colour across the whole quilt. Stitching one colour across the entire quilt and returning for the next will make alignment very difficult.
For each panel:
Stitch the background and foreground together without advancing the quilt (these layers are interlinked)
Advance the quilt slightly to fit the mid layer, then stitch the mid colour
Advance fully and repeat for the next panel
Horizontal repeat: 70"
Background + Foreground stitch depth: ~13.7"
If your machine can stitch 13.7" or more, you can stitch this pattern.
We recommend using 28wt thread for the accent/ foreground, and 50wt for the background and mid colour.
Want to try the technique first? (We really recommend it.)

This is a digital product for computerised longarm quilting machines. No physical file will be sent, but rather you will receive an email with a download link. Occasionally this email will go to spam so if the file isn't in your inbox, please check spam
The file you will receive will be a .zip folder that contains the pantograph files. This includes BQM, DXF, HQF, IQP, PAT, PLT, QCC, QLI, SSD, along with a .jpeg and a .pdf User Guide. This will give you an easy visual that you can print out and show to clients, or keep for your own reference
We use Art n Stitch to export files and unfortunately they no longer export CQP files so we no longer sell these as standard.
